Graphene 3D Lab Inc. from New York presented first FDM printed graphene based battery.

I couldn't find much additional information about energy output and capacity, but it looks scalable and something that could be reproduced and refined ...

Small step forward to new energy frontiers ...

Zeni Kinetic homepage:

http://www.zenikinetic.com/

It is on Kickstarter now where you can get it for 650 USD as "early bird" special:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1870202631/the-origin-a-3d-printer-sized-and-priced-for-you?ref=nav_search

Key features as advertised on Kickstarter campaign:
  • The Zeni Kinetic Origin comes in 6 attractive color variations: Dark Grey, Light Grey, Blue, Red, Aqua, and Raspberry. We will be sending out a survey at the end of our Kickstarter funding period with the option to choose which color you would like best on your Origin printer.
  • Our printer arrives fully assembled and ready to print, but it has been designed with accessibility and upgrade-ability in mind. With our dedication to Open Source development, the ability to tinker and modify is built in to the printer itself.
  • We manufacture both the filament and printer, so you know exactly where all parts of your project are coming from. This gives us the added ability to price the printers at a much more affordable rate.
  • No, you are not required to purchase filament from us. We have designed every aspect of the Origin to allow you the greatest flexibility possible, and that includes printing mediums.
  • We want you to feel freedom in every aspect of 3-D printing. Our machines are sturdy yet elegant, leaving both the top, front, and back open for adjustability and easy access to prints.
  • The Origin's size makes it large enough to print substantial pieces, without sacrificing affordability.
  • We also offer the distinctive option of multiple extruder heads (we know you are excited about the creative implications of that)! We have retained the Open Source mounting and mating of hot ends, allowing you to use any hot end that conforms to standard designs
  • We use 3/16ths plate aluminum for the ribs, sturdy 10mm linear ball bearings, and huge 5/16ths z axis screws. It may look pretty but there is nothing timid about this machine.
  • Experimentation is key with the Origin! You are not limited by an enclosed box, and we have included slotted extrusion at both the top and bottom of the printer to allow you to add any experimental devices or attachments you can imagine.
  • There is plenty of room to experiment with custom controllers, additional electronics or mechanical.
  • Your printer will function for years without major maintenance or changes but we fully expect (and want) some of our customers to modify their printers, and offer kits, or designs and models to help other do the same. Exploration is a trait we value at Zeni Kinetic, and we want our customers to benefit from that same spirit.
  • The Origin is one of the only printers on the market that begs you to make it into something else. The future of 3-D printing is not limited to plastic, so why should the Origin be? Our printer as been created with an unlimited future in mind: for the foodie—candy, pizza, and waffle printing is on the horizon; metal and ceramic options will be available for the builders and sculptors of society. The ability to print directly from pellets or ground plastic is currently being explored by one group and the number will surely grow. We want even the bio-printing sphere of the medical field to have options with the Origin. These advancements may be a few years down the road but we do not believe that 3-D printing is just a passing fad, and the Origin is a fantastic base to begin from.

I wish Zeni crew all the best with their endeavor!

Yes yes, every day a new 3d printer emerges. How to make any difference among them ... but I think that competition and consumer choice are great things ...

Now here is one completely new and innovative 3d printer developed by Sugapes on hackaday.io

The xy movement and print platform is actually a holonomic drive vehicle with three omnidirectional wheels attached to continuous rotation servos with four USB optical computer mice being used for a closed loop system. Print head is attached on z axis so basically the xy surface is unlimited.

The machine is still under development but it should be low in cost to make. It will be very interesting to see printed parts. The precision will probably bi a little rough.

Follow the build progress and learn much more details on:

http://hackaday.io/project/1544-Cheap-and-Easy-to-Build-3D-Printer

Holonomic drive is a movement system where a object can move in any direction without a need to turn.

Update:

They developed a holonomic drive robot 3d printer in Brazil:

D3D ONE-EVO 3d printer

DYNAMO 3D is new company from Italy who partnered up with Create it REAL, a Danish company specialized in developing electronics for 3D printers.
Their machine called ONE-EVO and here are the key features from their page:
"With the D3D ONE EVO we looked to improve significantly the print speed that could represent for customers an obstacle to buying a 3D printer” says Daniele Puca, president of DYNAMO 3D. "We have worked with Create it REAL and the results are more than satisfactory. The printer goes 4 times faster than any other model in the market so far, printing up to 400mm/sec (yes printing, not just moving). Thanks to this new technology it will be possible to build large objects in a very short time and it is a real revolution in home 3D printer”.

The machine also features the Remote Diagnostic System, new technology where the chip control what happens on the motherboard. This allows the customers to send an email to the technical service with data collected in case of problems and therefore increases the quality of support provided to the customer. Its work plan also sees an increased volume and offers 240 x 240 x 250 mm to satisfy your creativity.

Tech specs:
  • Print Speed 30 – 700mm/s
  • Possibility to print with ABS / PLA / FLEX and prepared for other materials
  • Chassis Material: methacrylate impact resistant with UV Screen Printing / Aluminium Accessories

New Valence Robotics presents new 3d printer aimed ad education institutions that features fully automatic 3d printing and part ejection with storage. The company wants to lease this NVPrinter they describe as "the first of its kind, fully automated, cloud-connected 3D printer," to schools for between $3,000 and $5,000 a year.

NVPrinter features:

This new machine is certainly evolutionary step forward from the first one they presented:

http://diy3dprinting.blogspot.com/2013/10/new-valence-robotics-nv-3d-printer.html

There are no independent tests or detailed technical specifications. I'm always skeptical with printers that claim high level of automation. There is not even a video of machine printing. We will see ...

They are crowd-funding at: http://www.fundable.com/nvbots

Automatic part removal is nothing new, but it was usually done in DIY fashion with many custom variations mostly by people who use their printers as small business machines to produce many parts:
